Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Account and sign-in details. When you create an account we collect your name, and your email address and/or phone number, depending on how you sign in. Prabal supports email, phone-number and Google sign-in; if you use Google, we receive your Google profile name and photo. Authentication is handled for us by Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In.

Health and fitness profile. During onboarding you provide your date of birth, gender, height, current, starting and goal weight, activity level, dietary preference (vegetarian, egg-etarian or non-vegetarian), food allergies and dislikes, where you train and your rest days and wake-up time. From these we calculate your BMR, TDEE and daily calorie and macro targets.

Activity you log. Meals eaten, workouts completed or skipped, exercise weights, sets and reps, water intake, weekly weigh-ins, streaks and any notes you add.

Photos. If you use meal scanning or attach a weigh-in photo, we process the images you capture or upload — meal photos, body photos and scale photos.

AI Coach conversations. The messages you exchange with the in-app AI Coach are stored so your chat history stays available across your devices.

Device and technical data. Device type, app version, time zone, push-notification tokens and basic diagnostic and usage information.

Advertising data. A device advertising identifier and limited ad-interaction data used to show and measure ads (see “Advertising” below).

2. How we use your information

To build and adapt your personalised weekly meal and workout plans, and to estimate the calories and macros of meals you scan and check them against your goal.

To power the AI Coach and the progressive-overload suggestions that adjust your workout weights over time.

To track your progress — weight, water, streaks and adherence — and to send the reminders and summaries you choose to turn on.

To operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the app, and to show ads that keep Prabal free.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. AI processing of your data

To generate your plans, analyse meal photos and answer your questions, Prabal sends the relevant profile, log, image and message data to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude models), which processes it on our behalf. We send only what a given feature needs.

AI output — including calorie and macro estimates and Coach responses — is an estimate generated automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete. It is not medical or nutritional advice.

4. Service providers we share data with

We rely on a small set of trusted providers who process your data only to deliver their part of the service: Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In (Google) for sign-in and account security; Convex for our backend database and application hosting; Anthropic (Claude) for AI plan generation, meal analysis and the AI Coach; Cloudflare R2 for secure storage of the images you upload; OneSignal and Expo for delivering push notifications; Google AdMob for in-app advertising; and Sarvam for translating recipes into Indian languages.

We do not authorise these providers to use your personal data for their own purposes beyond providing their service to us.

5. Advertising

Prabal is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. Some optional actions — such as swapping a meal or regenerating a plan — may ask you to watch a short rewarded ad first.

On iOS we ask, through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, whether we may use your advertising identifier to show you more relevant ads. If you decline you’ll still see ads, just less personalised ones. You can change this choice at any time in your device settings.

6. Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store a push token so we can send the reminders you enable — such as meal and workout reminders, your weekly plan being ready, hydration nudges, streak milestones and occasional product updates. You can turn any of these off in Settings at any time.

7. How we protect your data

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to the systems and people that need it to operate the service.

No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.

8. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Past weekly plans and daily logs are retained as history so you can see your progress over time.

When you delete your account, we delete your profile, logs, photos and chat history, except for limited records we may need to keep to comply with legal obligations.

9. Your rights and choices

You can view, edit, export or permanently delete your data from within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, logs, photos and AI Coach history.

Depending on where you live — for example under the EU/UK GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act — you may have additional rights to access, correct, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and to data portability. Contact us to exercise them.

10. International data transfers

Some of our providers store and process data on servers located outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect your information when it is transferred.

11. Children’s privacy

Prabal is not intended for children under 16 (or the age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

12. Cookies and our website

Our website uses essential cookies to function and, only with your consent, optional analytics cookies to understand what’s useful.

You can accept or decline optional cookies from the banner at any time, and manage them in your browser settings.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the date above will be revised.
